On a stage or at a grocery store, Reid sees opportunities all around him to share hope with those who are hurting. Reid was born and raised in Petaluma, California. He enjoyed a loving family and popularity in school, but felt a void in his life. At 17 years of age, Reid surrendered himself to the Lord, a decision that changed the trajectory of his life. As a young Christ-follower, Reid recorded many of Billy Graham’s messages, marveling at the power of God’s Word to touch hearts and change lives. He attended Western Baptist College (now Corban University) in Salem, Oregon and Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon, where Reid received his Master of Divinity. He also gained valuable training and experience as an intern at Luis Palau Association.
In 2002, Reid founded Reid Saunders Association, which has proclaimed the Gospel in word and in deed to more than 67 million people across the globe. He has ministered in 75 nations and across the USA at festivals, conferences, and outreach events. He is the author of Life to the Fullest, All for Jesus! Making Your Life Count for Christ, and Active8. Reid, his wife, Carmen, and their three children live in Salem, Oregon.
For nearly 20 years, Brett has partnered with churches around the world to help them find effective ways of reaching their communities for Christ. After completing his bachelor’s degree at Corban University, Brett worked at a Salem-area church for five years mentoring youth, coordinating events, and networking with local churches. Brett moved on to finish his graduate degree while working with a church plant in Troutdale, Oregon. He was later hired by the Luis Palau Association, traveling around the world, equipping churches for evangelism, and coordinating events. In 2004, Brett became our Executive Director, using his strength of administration and his heart for evangelism and discipleship to provide leadership and direction. Today, Brett devotes his time directing a new project called NextStudy, a web-based program that integrates new believers into churches and helps them continue their new life through Christian education and training.

Ruth was born and raised in Guatemala City. She considers herself a fourth generation Christian because of the fruits of American missionaries who lived in her country in the early 1900s. These missionaries shared with Ruth’s great-grandmother that salvation could only be found in accepting that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for our sins, and that we need to have a personal relationship with Him. Ruth’s great-grandmother accepted Christ as her Lord and savior, and subsequently, Ruth’s grandmother and mother did as well. At the age of seven, Ruth accepted Christ in her heart. Because of her family’s testimony, Ruth believes in mission work and enjoys taking people on mission trips. Ruth came to the U.S. when she married her husband Pat who is from Kansas City. Ruth enjoys going to the Oregon coast with her family, and loves serving the Lord alongside the RSA staff.
Mike became a believer when he was eight years old and later attended Western Baptist college (Corban University), where he started work in graphic arts. He spent eight years as a self-employed wildlife artist, gallery owner, art teacher, and carpenter. For over 20 years, he worked as a graphic artist/project coordinator at Church Art Works in Salem, Oregon. In 2014, Mike joined the RSA staff full time after volunteering with the RSA team on mission trips to India and Sudan.
Mike has two daughters and six wonderful grandchildren. This year, he will celebrate 43 years of marriage. When he’s not in the office, Mike enjoys traveling, spending time in nature, painting, photography, collecting antiques, watching sports, gardening, home remodeling, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
Chairman of the Board of Directors
At the age of 24, Paul surrendered his life to Christ at his mother’s bedside after a Thanksgiving Day gathering with his family. Several months later, he enrolled in a Christian College where he met his future wife. Paul and Reneé have been married for almost 47 years now. They’ve raised two children to adulthood in the faith and now are involved with their two grandchildren in that same journey. Paul has served as a pastor for the better part of 45 years and continues to do so today. Paul has been a part of our team for almost three years now, having served as a part-time Director of Operations and Development, a consultant, and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Paul spends much of his free time maintaining his health through cardiovascular exercises, weight training, and–his favorite avocation–swimming fairly slowly for long, long distances, mostly in a lap pool. His greatest love, in addition to Reneé, is studying and teaching the Bible.
Since the fall of 2011, we have been blessed to have Karen as our Office Manager. She loves serving the Lord in a variety of capacities, being His hands and feet. One of Karen’s joys is to get to know people over the phone, pray for their needs, and then meet them when Reid speaks at churches or our annual events.
Karen has many favorite Bible verses. Ephesians 4:29 is one of them, which states: Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. She prays continually to be an encouragement to others and to reflect the heart of God!
When she is not working, Karen spends time with her grandchildren, reads, plays Words with Friends, and dances as a Cherry City Clogger. She may be getting older, but she refuses to grow up!
Kaylyn is a servant of the Lord and has been working with RSA since the beginning of 2016. She fell in love with missions and ministry work when she went on her first mission trip to Thailand in 2014. She is a wife to the best, hardest working relator in town, Steven Blum, a mother to the sweetest dog, Cy, and a daughter of the highest King. As an ambassador of hope, she’s a seed scatterer, addicted to praying for anyone and everyone.
“May we all keep running in such a way that the world takes notice of our Jesus. May we walk out His love in such a way that the world shouts, ‘I want your Jesus!'”

Sunny Abraham is the senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Chennai, India, and he is the founder of Great Harvest Bible College. At the age of 19, Sunny responded to God’s call to share the transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ to the most unreached people in Asia. He was then called to educate and equip native pastors and leaders within the community to serve their own people through pioneer church planting ministries. Sunny is married to Mercy and has three children: Steven, Silas, and Susan. With God’s leading, an opportunity to meet Brett Butcher and the RSA team in early 2007 during their visit to India arose, and a long term partnership was formed. Together, they spent over a week serving the Lord. The wonderful fellowship and love that the missions team displayed helped Pastor Sunny see their strong vision to reach the people with the Gospel. For the last ten years, Pastor Sunny has served the Lord alongside RSA as the Asia field coordinator for outreach.
